The trust has been incorporated from the inspirational long-standing commitment of the 02 stalwarts, Sh. Gopinath Sharma and Sh. Ugrasen Sharma. These towering personalities lead exemplary lives as common people at grassroot level, but had been heroes in true sense, who made outstanding societal changes, while discharging their personal, social & professional obligations at the same time, inspiring a lot of masses to lead a contented life, in the true spirit of values embedded in the constitution.
Their life story speaks of growing out of very humble backgrounds, working hard for establishing themselves, and throughout their lifetime standing and contributing to the upliftment of society, be it their mission against untouchability and Zamindari system (supported the landless farmers through personal efforts), women empowerment, equal opportunity to all, equality in education, societal ethics and moral behaviour.
Their lives have been shining examples of busting the common perception that the role models have to be superheroes. Reflecting back on their extraordinary life journeys, re-asserts our belief that the idea of superheroes as role models, have never helped society to bring any meaningful change or elicit enough motivation in the common masses. The superheroes, somehow, have been seen endowed with some charismatic qualities and the commoners, then get an unmissable understanding that to achieve something, the charismatic quality is a pre-requisite (which is very untrue), thus seldom gaining anything meaningful to apply practically to their lives.
However, at the same time, each society at local level have unsung local heroes, who may or may not get recognition in their lives, by the socially distinguished elite, but who lived their lives with grace and humility, while weathering the vagaries of human life, ignited small but powerful waves in the society, which have made monumental positive changes, over different periods of time. This is an ongoing phenomenon, which helps society to evolve.
GopiChandra Ugrasen Foundation, the Not for profit organisation is in memory and celebration of undying spirit of these two and every such hero with zeal to live life, who have contributed their bit, as and where required in any form, remained grounded and approachable, at the same time brushing -off their energy and enthusiasm to whoever came in contact and directly or indirectly brought meaningful incremental changes to countless people, in their localities.
